True Life: I'm a Psychology Major

When it comes to picking a major in college, it can be extremely overwhelming. For someone like me, I was lost, confused and really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Then I took an abnormal psychology class in the 10th grade and fell in love with what I learned from it. The class showed me how different things affect humans. And my love for the show Law & Order SVU and passion for working with people also contributed to my newfound interest in psychology.

I took my first psychology class once I got to college and immediately knew it was the right fit for me. Throughout my time at Hofstra,  I have taken a wide variety of psychology courses. The major is very broad and each class gives you a full view of all the different things you can do with psychology. At first it was very difficult to decide which path I wanted to take. I went back and forth many nights debating what I wanted to do because of the many different career paths I could take. Now as a junior in college, I have narrowed my decision down to a few different options.

I'm very happy that Hofstra's Psychology Department has given me the chance and opportunity to figure out what I want to do with my life and enjoy my time doing so. I was given the ability to think for myself and see where I can truly thrive.
