It's almost over!
As our Fall semester is coming to an end, everyone is starting to relax and campus is clearing out as students are starting to flee home! The end of every semester is always filled with busy schedules, free food, stress busters, and the finally sense of relief but now there are no more classes, work, stress and hopefully no more finals! This is what makes winter break such a magical time for all, it finally lets students relax! However, I always find leaving somewhat bittersweet. I know especially for myself, I love going home and spending time with my friends and family, however, when the holidays are over, I find myself counting down the days until I get back to Hofstra! Although I know everyone is done thinking about school, but the spring semester is going to be here before we know it! Enjoy the time off!
For anyone who is graduating this weekend, a huge Congratulations!
Happy Holidays!

Hofstra Students Sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" During Finals Week
So you're sitting in the library with a few friends studying for your finals. When all of a sudden, out of nowhere, someone starts playing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" from the movie The Lion King.
And then, a bunch of students start singing along to the music! They're walking around the library singing their hearts out. Don't these kids have to study? Why are they so chipper during one of the most stressful weeks of the semester? At first, I was annoyed. But then, it hit me.
This is what being a student is all about. Where else are you going to encounter a bunch of people gleefully singing along to disney tunes in the middle of a library? Everyone was so happy too when they finished.
I love Hofstra!

Late Night Breakfast
One of the most popular traditions at Hofstra University is the Late Night Breakfast. Every year during finals week, there is a free breakfast buffet for all Hofstra students in our main dining area. It felt like the entire Hofstra student body was in the Student Center waiting for breakfast to be served.
There was plenty of delicious breakfast foods: bagels, eggs, bacon, french toast, fruits, and of course, PANCAKES! While we were chowing down on our breakfast, our mascots, Kate and Willie, came around to give away free Hofstra swag!
It was an awesome evening! Being at the Late Night Breakfast with so many of my friends and classmates reassured me that I made the right decision in attending Hofstra.
Well, I have to go now and study for finals! But before I do, here are some pictures from the Late Night Breakfast! And I bet it's going to be bigger and better next year!!!

Pet Therapy!
Students lined up today for a chance to pet their stress away with the OSLA Stress Busters event, Pet Therapy! This was "Paws-a-tively" a great way for students to reduce their stress about finals and get to just hang out with the Bide-A-Wee dogs! If you missed this event, don't worry! There is another chance to play with these dogs tomorrow, Friday the 13th! Go to the Middle Plaza Room in the Student Center anytime from 12-4 and pet your stress away!

Let it snow!
It is a known fact that Hofstra's has a beautiful campus, but with all the snow fall today, it is even better! With the new blanket of snow covering campus, Hofstra has never looked better! If you have never seen our campus during the snow, check out these pictures to see what you are missing!

5 places you have to see!
Although Hofstra's campus has a million different things to see, I would say there are 5 places on campus that you have to make sure you see when visiting Hofstra!
1. Hofstra USA
This is an unique dining location on campus and also has a lot of entertainment! Hofstra USA, as far as dining goes, offers an expanded menu derived from student-suggestions! As far as entertainment is concerned, Hofstra USA has late-night hours, which encourages a sense of community by encouraging students to enjoy a “night-out,” but right here on campus!

2. Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center
The student center truly is the center of Hofstra's campus. It inhabits somewhere to eat, somewhere to relax, it holds different events for students, the student center theater, the Hofstra bookstore, the post office, a game room, etc! Make sure you see the student center when visiting Hofstra, because as a Hofstra student, it is impossible to avoid it!
3. The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication
Why I think everyone on campus should see the school of comm is because of all that goes on inside of it. Unlike other buildings on campus, these classrooms are a bit different from a traditional classroom. From TV studios, radio stations, dance spaces, and a news room, you really get to see how Hofstra students create all the amazing things that they do and all the cutting edge technology Hofstra provides them with!
4. Memorial Hall
This may be one of the most important building on Hofstra's campus. Memorial Hall holds a variety of services such as Bites and Bytes, Financial Aid, Advisement, classrooms, etc! Also right outside of Memorial Hall is the quad, where students hang out in the grass, where you can see the John Adams Playhouse, and Emily Lowe Hall! As a Hofstra student, a lot of time will be spent in and around Memorial Hall, so make sure you check it out!
5. Axinn Library
As you can tell from the name, the Axinn Library is where you can find any resource you could probably ever need. With 10 stories, the Axinn Library is a great place to get work done! The Axinn Library is also home to the Hammer Lab which holds a bunch of computers for student use! Also, a really unique thing about the Axinn Library is that if you go up to the top floor, you can see the NYC skyline! Make sure you see it
Stress Busters!
It's that time of the year! No, I am not talking about the upcoming holiday season(although I wish I was). It's the time of the year for finals! This is obviously not everyone's favorite time of the year, but Hofstra tries to make it a little bit easier for students. The Office of Student Leadership and Activities, or OSLA, provides Stress Busters events for students to help them relax and close off the semester on a high note! These events vary from free grab and go breakfasts, pet therapy sessions, yoga classes, and even free professional massages! These are for sure events that everyone should take advantage of, so make sure you do not miss out! It's so important to stay relaxed during finals week, so let OSLA help!
