Gala, happening tomorrow!

The Hofstra Gala can be considered as the most prestigious event of the year! Held in the David S. Mack Arena, this annual gala is Hofstra's premier fundraising event which raises funds for the Endowed Scholarship Program! However, this event also "celebrates the contributions of countless people: the faculty and administrators whose drive and dedication inspire our students every day, the generous benefactors whose support has helped us invest in new labs, equipment and programs, and the students whose energy and achievements motivate us all to make Hofstra the nationally and internationally renowned institution it is today," according to President Rabinowitz! Truly an amazing night full of thanks, food, and fun!

Spring Open House!

This past Sunday, families and high school students from all over traveled to Hofstra to attend our Spring Open House! With the sun shining and all of the flowers finally in bloom, it was a beautiful day for anyone to experience Hofstra for the first time! Spring Open House is a great way for prospective juniors in high school to, of course, see Hofstra, but to also learn about our academics, see what it would be like to be a student here, and also get information on how to make the right college choice; and after getting feedback from the people who attended Open House, a majority will be considering Hofstra!

Spring Time at Hofstra!

Now that the weather on Long Island is finally warming up, students on campus are getting the spring time fever! From the shorts and skirts, to all the Frisbee games outside, and the Instagram photos of the blooming flowers on campus, spring at Hofstra is in full swing! After the long winter we just had, there is no better way to celebrate spring then to just go and sit in the grass on the quad and appreciate all the green around you! If you are not a Hofstra student yet, come to the upcoming Spring Open House this Sunday, April 27th, and experience Spring at Hofstra for yourself! Soccer as the Beautiful Game!

Over 300 journalists, scholars, and fans from over 25 countries were on campus this weekend to attend the international conference, “Soccer as the Beautiful Game: Football’s Artistry, Identity & Politics.” This conference looked at the economic, political, and the social impact that soccer has. An immense highlight of this conference was the appearance of international soccer legend, Pele! Over one thousand people attended the John Cranford Adams Playhouse during this conference to be there as Pele was awarded an honorary degree from Hofstra University! There is also a plaque in the James Shuart Stadium now commemorating Pele's visit to our University! Truly an amazing event full of appreciation, inspiration, and of course, soccer!

Admitted Student Day 4/12!

This past weekend, Hofstra hosted yet another Admitted Student Day for a great number of prospective students! Just in case you didn't know, Admitted Student Day is an event that will really show you everything that Hofstra has to offer! Students get the opportunity to talk to current faculty, students, and admission deans, as well as touring our campus, attending both an academic and a student services fair, and even get to enjoy an ice cream social to meet their potential future classmates! This is an event at Hofstra that is always filled with fun, valuable information, and of course, a lot of Hofstra Pride! If you are a prospective student looking to attend Hofstra, make sure you attend an Admitted Student Day!

Pele is coming to Hofstra!

This weekend, the Hofstra Cultural Center and the Hofstra University Department of History are honored to have legendary football player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or better known as Pele, present his international conference titled "Soccer as the Beautiful Game: Football's Artistry, Identity, and Politics." This is a conference that explores the  historical, political, economic and humanitarian impact of soccer, which is perfect timing since everyone is in anticipation for the World Cup 2014! Also while Pele is on campus this weekend, Hofstra will award him with an honorary degree! This is going to be a truly inspiring event that you should not miss out on!

Admitted Student Day 4/3

Today was yet another Admitted Student Day for prospective students here at Hofstra! Although the weather was gloomy, this event was full on excitement from all our visiting students and their families and friends! From events such as a Student Services Fair to information sessions for all of our different departments and even an Ice Cream Social, Admitted Student Day is always filled with much enjoyment and information. Your next to attend an Admitted Student Day is coming this Monday, April 7th! If you have never attended an this event and you are considering Hofstra, make sure you don't miss out!

What other University has thousands of photos of just their sunsets? That's right, Hofstra does! It is no secret to anyone that follows Hofstra on any type of social media that we are extremely proud of the sunsets that occur every night over our campus! This is truly always a beautiful sight, that you need to see with your own eyes! For now though, this picture of last night's sunset should suffice!
